Position Description:
The Communications Coordinator will work as an integral part of the Marketing and Communications Department as well as across departments within the company to promote the brand through the use of traditional and new media. The Coordinator will engage across multiple audiences including consumers, trade, wine industry media and broad consumer media, to tell the company story. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Act as a brand ambassador and cultivate an expert understanding of the brand and products
• Cultivate relationships with traditional and new media, including wine, food and sustainability bloggers as well as wine industry publications and natural and organic foods/products trade and consumer press
• Press Releases/Media Alerts
• Build positive image and increase brand awareness through sustainability messaging
• Leverage the power of editorial opportunities. Track consumer media editorial calendars and write targeted pitch letters and press releases.
• Manage media lists/database.
• Conduct outreach with environmental and health trades as well as key consumer health, lifestyle and business media
• Spearhead new and intriguing ways to engage the media with company products and story; anticipate future trends in media to stay ahead of the competition
• Manage company online identity
• Increase value of the Willamette Valley Vineyards brand among existing and new customers in the online marketplace through creation and execution of social media and brand strategies including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and the company Blog
• Manage all company e-mail communications to consumers, trade and media
• Document on-site and off-site events through pictures, videos and articles
Minimum Qualifications:
• Experience/background in PR
• Substantial experience with online platforms such as Facebook and YouTube; proven record of success using these platforms to leverage brand identity
• Digitally competent in basic design software (Adobe), social media software, video editing software and basic online formatting
• Two years experience specifically in the wine industry, and experience or interest in the Oregon wine industry
• Able to commit to a flexible schedule constituting 40+ hrs/wk that may include evenings and/or weekends
